Visual Journalist | Asset Manager

Dominic Chiu is a freelance photojournalist based in Hong Kong, working at the intersection of art and storytelling. He graduated from the University of Hong Kong, majoring in economics and finance, and since graduation he has been doing photography freelance for publications and NGOs primarily in Asia. Starting his photography career as a travel photographer, he went to explore exotic places around the world. In 2017, he went to document the world’s largest cave Son Doong in Vietnam, published by the BBC. 

Apart from travel photography, he is focusing on documenting stories he feels the world needs to know. In 2019 he went to cover the 2019 Hong Kong Protests, with his photo series awarded finalist in the 2020 World Report Award. He is now working on a long term project in Hong Kong, documenting  stories of brain cancer patients, trying to cover their struggle and hope along the path.

Work published in media includes BBC, Bloomberg, Forbes, Yahoo News, HKFP, etc.
